Are you a team player who is passionate about providing excellent customer service and has the ability to think independently? The Tractor & Trailer Mechanic is a key part of the E.G. Gray shop facility by identifying and completing all necessary repairs needed to ensure safe continuing operation of E.G. Grays' feet of tractor and trailers.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspecting each unit for any defects, missing paperwork, loose parts etc. Return defective parts and follow up with Parts coordinator as required.
Diagnose and repair any unit brought into the shop. Check all repaired work to ensure that vehicles are in good and safe operating condition.
Review documentation and or repair order to ensure all required information on repair order is accurate legible and complete.
Ensure all welders, torches and shop tools are turned off and stored during lunch and at the end of the shift, in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements. Disable any brake chambers that are removed from equipment and disposes in recycle bin.
Record parts and equipment utilized on the repair order, and ensure the Parts person is aware of stock taken.
Maintain a clean and safe work area e.g. Clean up any scrap/garbage, ensure hoses/cords are rolled up and store correctly.
Report to supervisor any variances in time allotted to complete a particular job.
Qualifications:
Valid 310 J Trailer mechanics license
Valid 310 T Tractor mechanics license
Knowledge of Shop processes
Understand and adhere to related safety standards
Demonstrated Knowledge of Ministry of Transportation rules and regulations
Valid Driver's License
Knowledge of Volvo's & Mack trucks would be a desirable
Other Qualifications Include:
Can work independently or part of team as required
Attention to detail
Oral communication skills
