On May 27th, E.G. Gray Transportation Ltd. announced a major step forward in the continued 'Greening' of E.G. Gray.
With the introduction of a state-of-the-art truck that joins our company's fleet.
The 2011 Volvo 780, is state-of-the-art.
Built by Volvo, a global manufacturer long known for its commitment to safety and care for the environment, the diesel-powered unit produces near zero emissions from its stack.
Water and nitrogen, that's it.
Other features inherent with, but not exclusive to the Volvo 780 include the use of
Wide Base tires and aluminum rims (WBAR), reducing rolling resistance and
decreasing fuel consumption with a savings capture of four percent.
The adoption of trailer side skirts and fairings further reduces wind resistance.
Message from President Dave Pogue
Like most companies, E.G. Gray Transportation Ltd. has long been greening the workplace-from use of low energy light bulbs, to reductions in use of paper. Various eco-friendly initiatives have also extended to the shop floor and fleet, including the installation of idle reduction, and fuel management systems.
This investment is the natural extension of our commitment to the environment, to our community and to our customers. We're already committed to green initiatives where we live. With this acquisition, our commitment extends to where we work-on the road.
It's an important investment at a time when the industry continues to see significant challenges.
However, it's also important for us-as a leader in the industry, and as a good corporate citizen in Peterborough-to do all we can for the environment, on behalf of our community. It's the right thing to do. We hope that our valued customers will continue to support us, as we make this significant step forward.
